This downloadable (ebook) training plan has been designed for new swimmers who have just completed a series of lessons on learning freestyle and are looking to develop those skills around a 400 test swim. This might be the first time you attempt to swim continuously for 400 or you are attempting to apply your new skills to swim that distance better than ever before.
The training plan is designed to be ‘self-paced. It is divided into 6 ‘steps’ where each step has a skill objective and fitness objective. You will continue working on that step until those objectives are achieved, and then you can move to the next step. You may take as much time as you need, following the practice instructions, to achieve the objectives for each step. On the quick side, one might complete this training plan in 8 to 10 weeks, or extend it to several months.
This training plan provides an example of how our SwimMastery training principles can be applied, and you are invited to imitate or innovate on this example. You may see ways in which the objectives or the skill/fitness goals could be better customized to suit your personal needs, and you are welcome to do that.
