Coach Tracey is the co-founder of SwimMastery and one of our primary Coach Instructors. She lives with her family near London and teaches her own students throughout the UK and abroad.
Tracey was born and raised in Zimbabwe where swimming was a part of her life from the start. She began competitive swimming at 5 years old and by 19 was also doing triathlons. She has been teaching and coaching swimming for over 20 years, starting with the standard UK national teaching programme, teaching children and adults, individually and in groups. She came across Total Immersion Swimming in 2002 and began integrating those ideas which produced a tremendous transformation in her own swimming and in her hope for her students. She became a certified Total Immersion coach and opened her own Endless Pool swim studio near London, and this eventually led to assisting and leading group workshops around the UK. In 2012, she became more deeply involved in coach training around the world and in leadership within the organization, working more closely with Terry Laughlin, the founder of Total Immersion, culminating in becoming the director of coaching in 2015. Through this experience, Tracey found her genuine passion for coach training and the value for the coach community, mutual learning, and collaboration.
Tracey has taught and coached in 17 different countries and works with swimmers from around the world, of all range of abilities, ages and with a wide array of goals. She has felt fortunate to guide and witness the incredible journeys of her students, from over coming fear and learning to swim for the first time, to swimming major expeditions, including swimmers achieving personal best times in all four strokes, several successful English Channel swims, Gibraltar Strait crossings, Round Jersey and Jersey-to-France swims, the North Channel, around Manhattan swim and many more.
For Tracey, training and mentoring coaches is a passion. It is her pleasure to be able to be part of a coach’s journey and to watch them develop into incredible practitioners. She believes she learns from them as much as they from her and have helped her become the coach she is today.
Emerging out of their prior experiences in swimming, coaching and organizational leadership, SwimMastery is the realization of Tracey and Mat's dream to create an organization that fully focuses on supporting the coaching and business-building needs of its members.
